…hold a fabric of silence so fine
and old that even a breath
could tear it.
I love to swim in the sea, which keeps
talking to itself
in the monotone of a vagabond
who no longer recalls
exactly how long he’s been on the road.
Swimming is like a prayer:
palms join and part,
join and part, almost without end.
~ Adam Zagajewski, from “On Swimming” from Without End: New and Selected Poems.
Notes: Poem via 3 Quarks Daily. Art by Samantha French
What a gr8 analogy:
Swimming is like a prayer:
palms join and part,
join and part, almost without end
Love this. Sending you newly refreshed thanks with hands like swimming paddles

I’m such a crappy swimmer that it IS a prayer for me…let me get to the shore/side of the pool! 😉

Sea is a temple…
A saw Adam Zagajewski in my dreams last night. Someone said I get a chance to meet him, and they took me to see him.

I would love to feel that comfortable with the sea. Not an avid swimmer myself and am more of a dip, cool off, do a couple of lengths in way off-point style and get out 😉
