Miracle. All of it. (15 sec)

Notes:

  • Thunderstorms rolled through Chicago on April 22, bringing a spectacular lightning display that lit up the city’s skyline. And no worries, Sawsan and Cher are safe!

  1. How amazing!
Reminds me of the times we rented a flat with a great view over Lake Zurich. My son was very small and cried, and cried, the thunder made him scream, the dog was barking madly – so I took both of my arms and went out onto the balcony. Dog didn’t want to watch, so she went back inside, son still screamed for a bit but he was fascinated by the lightnings, so that was something….. These are the best demos of nature’s force and power (literally….)
Sawsan, are you really living in Chicago?

      1. Well well. HH‘s uncle lived in Chicago but I never once heard about the nearness of Lake M….. And you can‘t be downtown AND sending me those amazing ‚sea-like‘ watershots ‚just down the road‘ – can you???? Are you a witch? (Ha ha – a nice one of course….!)

          1. Aaaah, I thought you‘d walk in your nightgown down to the shore , first thing in the morning, took some photos for Kiki, then dipped your tired body in the (re)fresh(ing) water and walked through the dew back to your house, ready to face the day 🙂 🙂 🙂

          2. 😂
Indecent exposure is a crime here in Chicago that one can get arrested for.
And I’m sure Esam wouldn’t bail me out !!!

    1. That‘s the prerogtive of lightnings…. fascinate and scare – at the same time! 🙂

I LOVE watching them from afar but when one hit our very old Leban cedar I was not enchanted. The tree didn‘t die immediately but three or four years later.

      1. The first house we bought here in Florida was hit by lightning and destroyed 5 days before we closed, Kiki, so I have a whole new (and very healthy) respect for the power of this natural phenomenon…

        1. Oh my God!!!! This is as fascinating as scary – and I understand you perfectly well….. One cannot overestimate the power of this natural phenomena. You were lucky too that the lightning struck before you closed. But what a terrible shock that must have been. And the stress! And the mess!
I won’t complain any more that we still haven’t been able to sell our house; although we too had a very unpleasant experience at the beginning of last year, which then made us decide to eventually sell…. but never as bad as the house burning down 😦
