He starts singing. “‘Half my life is over, oh yeah. Half my life has passed me by.’” I roll my eyes, but he keeps going. It’s a bluesy tune and I’m trying to place it. Etta James? B. B. King?“ ‘I wish I could go back, change the past. Have more years, to get it right . . .’”

Nah! It will never be perfect, even if we could go back, we would still find fault with what we have. I am learning to love this precious moment exactly as it is, while it is here. Happy Friday Mr K 👏🌈☺️

Regrets for the past are just moments lost … I rather concentrate on the NOW.
(maybe a sign of midlife crisis? But then WHO needs a midlife crisis? Life provides us already with ample crises…)
Have a good Friday, all of you. ❤

I saw this yesterday,
“And the morning
shows up again
Like it always does
A reminder that each day
Comes with free refills
I tell myself that every hour
is happy hour, as long as I am
On this side of the ground
And maybe that’s a good
Enough reason to smile
And get out of bed
I know it’s not the weekend
But Friday and Saturday
are watching
Let’s give them something
to talk about

We would never “get it right” if we went back. There will always be something that we forgot to “fix”. It would be a waste of precious time (Kiki said it so well: moments lost) on “this side of of the ground” as stated in the poem Sawsan shared.

Dale, my comment to you got lost – iPad was locked, WiFi broke down, the neighbour was using the shower, what do I know…..
So, I try again: If we had a second round, I wouldn‘t even try to FIX my formerly committed errors of judgement, stupidity, lack of experience, because wouldn‘t we automatically already feel different about everything? When we were so much younger, more innocent too, full of ‚we-know-it-all‘ and ready to remake the world and burn our candles from both ends AND the middle too, we also were invincible, right?!
Discussed right today with my baby sister some deep-sitting demons and we agreed to there is NO WAY that we would go back to trying to fix anything…. Quite fitting to this post I found.

No worries, because here you are now!
And no, no way I would go back and change a thing.
What I have lived has brought me here. Nothing is going to change that.

Rain
Raymond Carver
Woke up this morning with
a terrific urge to lie in bed all day
and read. Fought against it for a minute.
Then looked out the window at the rain.
And gave over. Put myself entirely
in the keep of this rainy morning.
Would I live my life over again?
Make the same unforgiveable mistakes?
Yes, given half a chance. Yes.

Lulu (?) – love that! Beautiful – although my mantra is not to make all my unforgiveable mistakes again, as there are so many others to try out too 😉
