  1. It always amazes me and fills me with a profound sense of gratitude for the way things go on in our bodies over which we have no control – things and processes that keep us alive.

  2. David, thank you for leading me to Dr. Weller. After my husband died I read a few “widow memoirs,” and wrote one myself, but I still felt I was trying “to walk alone with this sack of grief on (my) back without knowing where to take it. ” That feeling was made worse by my responsibility (duty? fierce sense of protection? “responsibility” seems like way too tame a word for it) to also help my child carry that devastatingly heavy “sack”. I never felt the relief of recognition that I just felt clicking through to and reading that interview, except in blogging about grief, and finding community there while trying to “carry grief in one hand and gratitude in the other and to be stretched large by them.” In that, I have found a few moments when “grief will transform itself into tender melancholy.” I don’t know how you find the time to so consistently discover such lovely stuff, but I’m very grateful that you do – “Only if we learn to grieve can we keep our hearts responsive and do the difficult work of restoring and repairing the world.” “Hearts beating in utter darkness” recognize the light. I so look forward to your posts for things like this. Thanks again.
