I love the dawn stillness (on Thanksgiving Day)

light-night-house-family

Quiet has many moods. When our sons are home, their energy is palpable. Even when they’re upstairs sleeping I can sense them, can feel the house filling with their presence, expanding like a sail billowed with air. I love the dawn stillness of a house full of sleepers, love knowing that within these walls our entire family is contained and safe, reunited, our stable four-sided shape resurrected.

  1. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family…hope that Rachel and Eric are home with you to celebrate the Joy (assuming they are since the quote talks of a sleeping house)…I searched your blog for Katrina Kenison and noted that what you share and what she writes at times parallels moments of your journey.& contributes to our allover impact of heart smiles ..I am thankful that over time you have shared several Katrina Kenison excerpt which have given me cause to ponder, in appreciation…/// have you ever read the Classic Children’s Book “The Napping House”? By Audrey Woods & illustrated by her husband, Don…They are such nice people. The video is 2:43 in length. The illustrations are so amazing, such a charming and rhythmic book… https://youtu.be/l8ebzsjBa7Y

    1. watched the video too. What a delightful little story, I can see children all over the (English spoken) world being led into their dream world by this….. (although I still very much hope that it’s not a soulless YT voice telling a bedtime story!)

  2. A most beautiful combo here for this special day in the US. Although I’m truly thankful every day of my life for all the gifts I receive and all the good I experience, I find it a pleasing thought to REALLY pull all the stops on one day of the year and to put on a real family & friends feast. Happy Thanksgiving Day.
