After the rain, I went back into the field of sunflowers.
It was cool, and I was anything but drowsy.
I walked slowly, and listened
to the crazy roots, in the drenched earth, laughing and growing.

Everybody loves sunflowers. I love them even more for the fact of them facing towards the sun – I’v seen it, on my trips through Southern France….. And this Mary Oliver! Aaah

Yes, yes, and YES. So very lucky when I went to Tuscany… there was one field that unexplainedly still had sunflowers while all the others were drooped over, finished for the season. Felt so other-worldly and I felt so blessed… Like the field was there just for me (ok, ok…and the group I was with…)

Dave, today’s post was a perfect birthday gift: sunflowers for the Kansan, wrapped in Mary Oliver. Thank you.
