Tom Petty, 66, was reportedly rushed to the UCLA Santa Monica hospital today after being found unconscious in his Malibu home. Various reports state that “he is clinging to life” after a heart attack. On a long list of my Tom Petty favorites, “I Won’t Back Down” is my siren song. Stand your ground one more time Tom.
Well, I won’t back down
No, I won’t back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won’t back down
No, I won’t back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won’t back down
No, I’ll stand my ground
Won’t be turned around
And I’ll keep this world from draggin’ me down
Gonna stand my ground
Won’t be turned around
And I’ll keep this world from draggin’ me down
Gonna stand my ground
Many reasons to begin to stand together and with collective strength stand our ground. From here on out we have no excuse for backing down….thoughts with Mr. Petty and all those needing support and courage to get through this day.

I am sorry to say that I read that he has passed away…RIP Tom Petty…our daughter cried.when she heard, she loves all the music that her folks listened to…I liked “America Girl” along with other tunes from his prolific work.

Reports are unfounded. His death was reported 2-3 hours ago and then reports were retracted.

Of course you know first hand how you and Tom would quiet Rachel down from her endless colic – Learning to Fly and Free Falling were her favorites….great memories.

Timeless. My favorite was Mary Jane’s Last Dance. My last band played that and it was always a crowd favorite. RIP

For me… it is “Free Fallin”. My late husband, Mick and my late friend, Brenda would sing it every time they got… ahhh… to feeling no pain. 😉 Brenda and Mick are now raising hell in the nether world – they might welcome Tom but we would like to keep him with us a tad longer…

🙂 When Mick was in a coma, my friend Patti looked up towards the sky and told Brenda to leave him alone, she couldn’t have him just yet… Brenda didn’t listen. We like to imagine those two belting it out..

Saw him in Austin in May for his 40th anniversary tour. Awesome show. Great loss to great music, simple, clear, meaningful lyrics
