My hubby goes to bed between 8:30 and 9:15 usually….me when I get the chance (late if HGTV is on) and then I sleep about 4.5 hours…three sleep disorders.

This one too. Most days I’m out by 10. And only wake up when the cat is sitting on the pillow sniffing my face.
Or when she thinks I’m playing hide and seek with my toes.
In 2009 I had to resort to sleeping pills, because I start dreaming from the second I fall asleep until I wake up. One dream after the other. A year or two into the sleeping pills the dreams came back.
When I had to be with my father for a couple of months this past winter I quit the sleeping pills cold turkey. It wasn’t easy in the beginning. Now I sleep like a baby. As long as I avoid caffeine after 4.
The dreams, I look forward to them now.

i fall asleep easily between 9 and 10 and wake up between 3-5. guess it’s the higher power trying to talk to me, and i must not be getting the message –

Okay – so I’m stressed, emotionally disappointed, angry, a higher power is trying to tell me something, and I’m emotionally blocked. I think I should have made better career choices… 🙂

Laughing. Me too hitting on all of these cylinders. It is any wonder I’m not getting any sleep.

Interesting. Your post is someone’s interpretation of Chinese clearing times, lending an emotional perspective to the physical organ systems:
9-11 p.m. — Triple Heater — The endocrine system adjusts the homeostasis of the body based on electrolyte and enzyme replenishment.
11 p.m.- 1 a.m. — Gall Bladder — Initial cleansing of all tissues, processes cholesterol, enhances brain function.
1-3 a.m. — Liver — Cleansing of blood. Processing of wastes.
3-5 a.m. — Lung — Respiration. Oxygenation. Expulsion of waste gases.
(fyi) 😉 xo

Hahaha, no need 😉 Two daughters are TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) practitioners. It’s in my blood by now 😉 Enjoy your weekend, David! 😘

Oh, and/but by the way? If you’re waking at a specific time over and over, acupuncture can help you sleep. That’s the miracle of knowing these kinds of things, for a practitioner. Heals the emotional component as well, over time.

Well I guess I’m angry some of the time and God is trying to tell me something the rest of the time. 😉

And now we won’t go back to sleep coz we are worrying if we are angry, God is speaking to us or we are emotionally blocked ha! Oh boy, is right. 💕👍

The myth persists that we “should” sleep for 8 hours continuously. Sleep research shows that we wake up more than once our entire lives, but the interval is short enough that we don’t remember it from the time we are young until we hit our 40s, 50s, 60s. The manufacturers and sellers of sleep medications would very much like us to believe that eight continuous hours is “normal” rather than that different people have different normal sleep times. The average norm is 7.5 and naps count.

Thank you for sharing the insights. I would love to get 7.5…

If I believed all that Chinese stuff I’d never get over myself. My theory is much simpler. I can’t sleep most of the time because I can’t shut off the trivia in my brain. All I need to do is find the “Off” switch.

When u find that switch, pls send me the map.

I used to sleep like magic… when we had Arabian horse ranch. I was so dead tired! LOL Switched to office/desk work and my easy sleeping went out the door. Now, I’m just used to waking up at 3am and calling it good enough.
