This flick has been hammered (trashed) by the critics (e.g., Rogerebert.com or Variety.com) but loved by its audience – 83% of Amazon reviewers loved it.
I say Bah Hum Bug to the critics! “Sugary Sweet Fantasy” perhaps, but it’s the season. Sit with your family over the holidays and watch this Disney-like flick.
Find it on Amazon Video: Mr. Church
The trailer holds a feeling it seems we could all use these days. Love and caring for each other.

That’s it Peg. You didn’t watch the movie, but nailed the punch line.

We did get it last week from Red Box.
They all LOVED it.
But I was sick and fell asleep before the movie started.

Oh Boy Hellen. I have you pegged for a serious Documentary type. My stock will plummet after this one. 🙂

We just watched and enjoyed very much. Refreshing to see Eddie Murphy in a dramatic role. And not Disney at all. Family film, sure. Great recommend, David, thanks!

Hi Bela. Glad to hear you liked it. I too enjoyed to see Eddie Murphy’s range. Hope to see him in future dramatic roles.

Agreed. My brother knew him briefly for a time, and he’s (Eddie) an emotionally, er, complex man. Acting gives range to these emotions, just like writing does for me (being a private sort). I think he’s got more to reveal, though I’m not sure cookie cutter Hollywood will dole out the proper material – it does love its formulic ‘movies.’ Aloha, David.
