        1. Yes, and there’s a place for grief. I’m already starting to move beyond the numb, aching feeling I had all of last night. Embrace change, trusting in the purpose of it all. Blessings, Val, and thanks for your kind words. It means a lot. ❤

          1. We have to go through the stages of grief with any loss that has meaning for us. Be gentle with yourself and allow the loving energy to fill you up as you find your way home again Bela. 💕

        2. What individual wouldn’t think that, given the hateful things Trump has spewed about Latinos, Women, Muslims, African-Americans? It’s disillusioning to believe that people are basically good and to discover that half the population of a country supports someone so full of venom.

          1. In the same way the Great Recession has introduced much of middle America to the grinding despair that was for decades the norm among the poor and marginalized, so, too has the Crisis of Authority projected onto the national scrim images of elite corruption and incompetence that have made up the scenery of life in poor neighborhoods for ages. The broken pipes are no longer confined to public housing residents; we are all ankle-deep in the water.

Such betrayals produce a cumulative effort. They prompt citizens to adopt a crossover skepticism about the very legitimacy of the project of self-government.

  1. All we can do is pray that whoever makes it in, decides things intelligently, without lobbyist sway or buying their way into the president’s pocket.
