Saturday

sleeping-dont-wake-me

The best thing about the bedroom was the bed.
I liked to stay in bed for hours,
even during the day with covers pulled up to my chin.
It was good in there,
nothing ever occurred in there,
no people,
nothing.

~ Charles Bukowski, Ham on Rye

  1. I stay out of bed, during the day unless I am ill, by body racked with pain or I need a nap and when I do go to the cornor room, I shut the door and am welcomed by…An enveloping comfort of I am safe, I am home, I am warm…the respite will help to heal and refresh my body and soul…a necessary solitude…a gift of grace to myself.

  2. Thank you…the past few days the eyes were closing, the teeth gritting, as I rode the wave, the breaths a bit deeper trying to find a place of ease as the nerve pain traveled downward and settled, apparent from the waist down…finally said enough, no more going about my day, reached for the prescription of anti-inflammatory and retreated to the couch, to watch Hallmark movies (purposely, no tv in the bedroom) he took, sympathy checking on me often and he mix up the box of Betty Crocker gluten free chocolate chip cookies, loved indulging …time wore on and eventually it was time for him to sleep, I finished the movie, then went on to toss and turn, gingerly…no pain today., just sore…def. taking it easy for a few days, think a nap is in order today… he processed and froze peaches and started the lengthy, many hours, process of making tomato jam (tomatoes from the garden) all before I opened my eyes this morning…he and our daughter at this very moment, are guessing at how many jars will be filled…the aroma is amazing the cloves, cinnamon, tomatoes, honey, lime juice, fresh ginger, chili flakes…so grateful for the love, care and gift of flexibility in life…///I weighed a large sweet onion at a farm the other day, it came in at just over 4 and 3/4 lbs! grown in good river soil…/// if Susan is interested or any of your readers are, here is the recipe: he tripled the recipe! http://foodinjars.com/2013/09/classic-tomato-jam-sweetened-honey/
