Sometimes no mater how hard we try to see what it is we are looking for, even when we stop and let our mind search, doing nothing, just waiting to mentally grasp what is going on around us, it still eludes us. It just doesn’t make any sense.

My perspective follows a different path than the others who have commented —
These words “couldn’t do it anyway” struck me…my mind started imagining what is the full situation..that has the person in that defeated state, in their reality? Are they a stroke victim. who has resigned to give up, a paralyzed person without the ability to communicate. a person in a semi-vegetative state, a person in shock, a person in a state of panic, or a person waiting to die. I see the person as, checked out, blank – All They Can Do is What They Are Doing… then I read the the piece “Straw Dog, Straw House” they are dealing with Raw Grief, being alone after the death of a loved one…Their world had changed, and they desperately, want it back with you in it. They realize that their loved one is dead and they can’t change that – How are they going to Adjust to Just Being….and Being in Pain… Grief is such a personal experience and one that I think stays with you, your entire life. Grief changes you and you change and learn from it.. Hopefully, after the initial shock they will come to a point and recognized that their loved one would never want them to not continue forward….for they were loved and they still can be brave and remember and continue to Love, the one who is gone and others that come into your life….Life is a gift….Peace to all.

I had a different twist on this Christie. The immensity, the incomprehensibility, the improbability of life. It is exactly as you state – Life is a Gift.

This sounds more like Long Friday. That’s what it is today in all the Nordic Countries (and some other parts of Europe). It’s a holiday/day off and practically everything is closed so people couldn’t do much anything even if they wanted to.
