An invincible summer

In the midst of winter,
I found there was,
within me,
an invincible summer.
And that makes me happy.
For it says
that no matter how hard
the world pushes against me,
within me,
there’s something stronger—
something better,
pushing right back.

  1. I have been sanguine about winter until I got stuck in the snow yesterday and stepped off the curb while a boy tried to gun my old truck out of the rut. He finally listened to me and hooked up his tow line while I lay on the ground clutching my knee. One resorts to drama.

  2. I was so convinced that I have read it before and my mind was wondering where? when? how? then suddenly I saw the name “Albert Camus!” He inspires me like anything. One of my most favorite quote of him is: “Should I kill myself, or have a cup of coffee?”

    1. I had to look up the Camus quote. (Seemed a bit harsh to me.). Then I understood. Here it is…thanks for introducing me to it Sonia.

      My dear,

I don’t know what to do today, help me decide. Should I cut myself open and pour my heart on these pages? Or should I sit here and do nothing, nobody’s asking anything of me afterall. Should I jump off the cliff that has my heart beating so and develop my wings on the way down? Or should I step back from the edge, and let the others deal with this thing called courage. Should I stare back at the existential abyss that haunts me so and try desperately to grab from it a sense of self? Or should I keep walking half-asleep, only half-looking at it every now and then in times in which I can’t help doing anything but? Should I kill myself or have a cup of coffee?

      Falsely yours.

      1. Wow. I mean it’s a W.O.W actually. It’s magnificent, Man. Thank you so very much David for introducing me to the complete version of those words. Thanks a lot. 🙂

  3. The quote from Camus has always been one of my favorites, and I had read it again a couple of months ago at the time when I really needed to read it. And now, here it is again thanks to you … And you ALWAYS manage to pair the best image to your posts.
