No Pain. No Gain?

“…maybe that’s the lesson for me today. to hold on to these simple moments. to appreciate them a little more. there’s not many of them left. i don’t ever want that for you, finding things that make you happy shouldn’t be so hard. i know you’ll face pain, suffering, hard choices, but you can’t let the weight of it choke the joy out of your life. no matter what you have to find the things that love you; run to them. there’s an old saying: that which does not kill you makes you stronger. i don’t believe that. i think the things that try to kill you make you angry and sad. strength comes from the good things: your family, your friends, the satisfaction of hard work. those are the things that keep you whole, those are the things to hold on to when you’re broken.”

  1. Perfect combination of image and words – you did it again. “I think the things that try to kill you make you angry and sad. Strength comes from the good things..” Words to remember when sliding down the slope of tired thinking.

  2. Things that try to kill us (slowly), suck the positive spirit out of us are the ones to watch and deal with, as you so beautifully quote here. Great and as alway spot on message. thanks.

      1. Yes, it could be a deep proverb to envision. But, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual (etc.) pain is something that all people have to contend with from one extreme to another. It is difficult to imagine coming out of certain ‘pain’ stronger and more prepared for the road forward. But, as with any ‘exercise’ of life, our pain is most certainly conditioning for a stronger future. By the way, ‘Pain is weakness leaving the body’ is a slogan commonly used by the Marine Corps.

  3. Actually have been watching that show. Amazing graphic! Love this part…”i think the things that try to kill you make you angry and sad. strength comes from the good things: your family, your friends, the satisfaction of hard work. those are the things that keep you whole, those are the things to hold on to when you’re broken.” Thanks Dave…great inspiration to start a new week!
