This is my youngest brother Lorne. This photo was taken one year ago yesterday after his successful bone marrow transplant. He celebrates another year of a remarkable life. This man, my Brother, carries himself with such grace, with such gentleness, with such kindness and with such optimism – – I shake my head in wonder. It makes me believe that he was “selected” because of his indomitable spirit and strength.
And, there is another selfless, good hearted soul out there, somewhere, who was kind enough to donate bone marrow. Right now, you may be having breakfast, taking a walk, reading the newspaper or simply enjoying the beautiful day – and you have no idea of how much joy you have brought. Thank you for giving my Brother your gift of life.
It’s time Bro. It’s time. You’ve had a rough ride. It’s a daily struggle. You’ve paid your dues. It’s now time for you to get a wee bit of a tail wind.
Happy Anniversary to you, to your beautiful wife Rebekah and the boys.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.~ An Irish Blessing
P.S. BTW, not a flattering picture of you. How difficult is it to keep your eyes open that wide?
A big hug for all of you!
~Marion

Thanks for sharing. You and I are really blessed to have strong, “unstoppable” siblings. Early this year, mu son donated a kidney to my sister because hers was damaged badly by diabetes. By the Mercy and Grace of the Lord, they are stronger.

Oh David – and now he no longer is with his family, sons and you. He seems to have been truly a remarkable man – and isn’t it just so, that the very best have to go first. I also didn’t know that his struggles were of such a long duration. What did you all have to go through, until Lorne returned to his maker….. Such suffering. (May I say, unrelated that I loved his Tongue-in-Cheek T-shirt!)
May you remember his being such an outstanding, gentle, good human and may you all be able to get over the frustrations, anger, the shortcomings of your health system – in good time.
Sending you hugs, prayers and thoughts….
