  1. My condition has a name! 🙂 seriously, I love nothing more than snuggling in on a rainy day. I find it very peaceful and restorative….Don’t think I could take a steady diet it of, ala Seattle, but here and there, absolutely…. 🙂

    1. I could handle a steady diet of it. We went through 3 weeks of rain and cloudy days here back in 1994 and I was sad when the sun came out. I thrived during that time. People think I’m crazy, but rain is my weather. I can’t get enough of it!

      1. You explained exactly how I feel too! And people give me the same weird looks and comments. They ask, do you like the gray days too? I say, YES, the more the merrier. I thrive when it gets gray and the rain comes down. I do not look forward to summer. Thankfully I live in Oregon, but I wish I was in Forks!

      2. Just found out I have a name. Have always loved rainy days and yes people think I am crazy. Hate it when the son comes out! I am hating the thought of summer (except for the rainy, stormy days which I hope will be often).

      3. You speak as if you were me!! Exactly how I feel. I think I’d be happy to have rain every day. I love rain, I love everything about it, the sound it makes, the smell, the way it looks. I get headaches when it is sunny, and my eyes hurt. But that’s not why I love the rain, I’ve always loved rain. I can remember as a child wanting to go outside once the rain began. Seattle used to get a lot of rain but does not anymore. I’m researching the rainiest place in North America and if I win the lottery I’ll go!!

      4. I’m going to honestly admit my envy, three weeks! In my GLORY, I’d of been, what we have here in June is many days of rain that if there were a name for lovers of the month of June for that reason, I’d be that too! 3 years running we had first, 23 days, next, 20 and this year about the same, but not steady, I could, would and want a steady rainy day and rainy nughts? Even better! I’m also a nyctophile, one who loves the dark, I’m in my utter element, if you’ll excuse the unintended pun, when it’s dark of night AND raining, I’m happy to be amongst people who not only thrive in rainy conditions, but share their story even if my padiddling with each of you is through the glass screen of my cellphone, I thank you all for sharing and David for bringing it to light, so to speak, finding this the day of FallBack, no less, I respect the Sun, but were there a star called Rain, I’d “worship” it
        Blessings to all, Marie

  2. I love sitting on the porch when it rains. Listening to the pattering of raindrops on the roof. I sometimes even go for a run in the rain. Love it.

  7. I too have loved the rain all my life. Now I’ve come to realize why. Sometimes life hurts so much and rain washes all the dirt life brings. Its like starting with a clean slate after every rain storm. 🙂

  8. Rain. Thunderstorms. Hail. Tornadoes. Sleet. Snow. I love all kinds of storms. Sunshine is depressing to me. Yep, I’m upside down and backwards, and I know it. And I don’t care.

  9. That makes two of us!!! We are in a drought here in Texas too and so it makes the absence of rain even more painful! Thank you for visiting my blog today. I’m glad you liked my post and hope you will come again sometime. Blessings, Natalie 🙂

  10. It’s interesting. We all have our own response to the elements of nature based on our own chemistry. I always loved to look out at the ocean and never knew the mountain air is much better for me, better suited for my constitution.

Theres nothing better than sitting out on a rainy day, closing my eyes and listening to the rain, to feel the rain pattering down on my face, it is just unbelievably calming and relaxing, and also quite refreshing, i am with you all on this, i get looked at funny, called crazy for prefering the rain, but when i explain why and the feeling i get, very few can understand, the rest still think im nuts, ive even gone as far as having an app on my phone for those summer nights in bed, so i can listen to the rain and thunder to help me sleep.

  16. I absolutely love rain and thunderstorms. I will only watch the news channel in hopes that there will be thunderstorms. I’ve always thought of it as a weird obsession that I possess. I’m still not sure what term this type of love for storms is also known as.

  19. My husband was just saying today how he hates summer. It’s loud and hot. You feel guilty for not getting outside more. It is more expensive if you want to take a trip. We both love the rain and cooler weather. Fortunately, we live in an area that is more suitable to those conditions. Olympia, Washington is great. But, we are experiencing a heat wave a looking into an air cooling system.

  20. This world is plagued with the judgemental human. Send as if most people dispise inclement weather and associate the same with depression, trouble, darkness et’ cetera. To the pluviophile, rain is good, edifying, liberating, calming, warning and a subdued day makes us see things better, like polarized lenses. I don’t mind sunny days, actually we need the sun for health, however I prefer an overcast day to stay home or get cozy with the one I Love. There’s no comparison to driving the road on an overcast day. I can see things better and it is very relaxing. I surmise that either I’m an oddball or possibly, a normal majority. At my age, I don’t confirm to the others’ ideas of the perfect day, I simply love the way I feel on days of forecasted thunderstorms and overcast skies!!!

  21. Wow …… I just searched online and found people who are like me. I live in England and we are lucky to have great rain every year. I for as long as I remember have loved to sit wrapped up under an umbrella in the garden whenever it rains and I feel so peaceful. It gives me time to think about everything almost like I can imagine people who meditate feel.
It’s my favourite place in the world to be. I used to skip school and sit all day in the rain. Now I sometimes miss work so it’s a good job I have my own business to get away with it.

I thought it was just me
